Canada Goose Family Cute One Day Old Goslings Decorative Cushion

A young family of Canada geese, goslings newly hatched yesterday, are paddling along the shore of a reedy creek. It's early May and the spring sun is warm and bright. The mother goose was on the nest for about four weeks. Male and female Canada geese mate for life - although if a partner dies or vanishes, the other bird will eventually seek another mate. During incubation of the eggs, the mother and father goose have specific roles. She lines the nest with fluffy down from her breast. It looks like a messy pile of sticks but is warm and safe inside. She incubates the eggs, while Father goose brings her food, and also watches the nest so she can have a splash in the creek. During the incubation she sits perfectly still and is so well camouflaged people might walk within a few feet of her and never notice. In fact I was looking right at her for a while before I realised I was looking right at her. The gander or male goose forages new shoots of grass and stands guard while Mum is on the nest, often in a vigilant or protective posture. There is no danger here for this happy family, and everyone can relax. In this photo the goslings or baby geese are paddling and splashing and dabbling and learning to find their own food while they're playing in the water by the shore. Geese have long been a symbol of family and family love, loyalty and protection. Get this for wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers, bird watchers, birders; a sweet intimate scene of wildlife, waterfowl, parents and children. When the goslings are a little bigger, this family group will get together with other Canada Goose families to form one big gregarious flock, where the adults all share babysitting time.
