We hung a feeder outside the window of our apartment and were delighted to attract a pair of cardinals regularly. I learned that cardinals mate for life, and the male customarily hunts for food and feeds it to the female. The idea of these two surviving winter together and eating the traditional Christmas holly berry seemed like a perfect love story.
