Carrie Deer & Carrie Furnaces Men's T-Shirt

One of Pittsburgh's "Carrie" steel furnaces is now an historic landmark! Along with our local PA friend, my husband and I toured the furnaces in August 2014. For the design, I used my favourite photograph of the furnaces, and created a cut-out style rendition of the iconic Carrie Deer, a 45-foot art project that towers above the main yard. I decided to incorporate the official Pittsburgh city colours, black and gold, into the image. I never thought I would be so inspired by, and feel so connected to, a steel plant, of all things! But I got the idea for this Zazzle project series while on the tour, and I think other people will have a similar experience after visiting the Carrie furnaces (or hope to visit some day!). I plan to give 5% of my profits to riversofsteel.com. Every purchase you make that incorporates my design, whether on a button or a coffee mug or a t-shirt or a canvas bag, will support stabilisation and renovation of Carrie Furnaces 6 and 7 in the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area, and further the proposed Homestead Works National Park.
