Castle Forbes – Forbes Clan Stone Coaster

Castle Forbes – Forbes Clan Stone Coaster

Coasters are a wonderful way to savour your Scottish heritage and introduce guests to this aspect of you. If you have more than one Scottish clan in your DNA, collect a set of individual coasters as unique as your personal heritage. Some historians believe the Forbes clan descends from Kings of the Picts. Castle Forbes, seat of the Forbes Clan, sits on a 6,000-acre estate that can be visited by clan members and area residents by special arrangement. Located near Alford in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and overlooking the River Don, the current castle was constructed in 1815 on the site of a former family home. Its Scottish baronial architecture was selected by the 17th Lord Forbes. Sir Alexander Forbes, who became the 1st Lord Forbes, received a grant for the land in 1411 for his part in the battle of Harlaw, in which Donald of the Isles was defeated. On the property is a stone circle that dates to 3000 BC. The land surrounding the circle is a natural burial ground in which plots can be be purchased. The estate also houses a perfumery and is a maker of men’s shaving products. The charming painting that dates to approximately 1880 is in the public domain, and the photo is by Gilbert Scott, who given it a Creative Commons Attribution Share-alike license 2.0, and has been modified for contrast and colour, as well as size and shape to fit the ClanCastles products.

Beyond expectations, the photo was perfectly reproduced on the stone and the stone texture made it something special. A quality product. As a photographer, I am very aware of print quality, and this product clearly met my high expectations.

I have received many compliments on these coasters and they have withheld very well with extreme heat from a mug and the condensation from a glass without ruining any of my wood surfaces. The print actually turned out exactly like the photo.
