Chariot of Apollo: by Symbolist Odilon Redon Mouse Pad

"Chariot of Apollo" was created by Odilon Redon, circa 1912 as an oil and pastel on canvas. It is in the collection of the Musée D'Orsay in Paris, France. In this masterpiece, Redon depicts the Greek sun god Apollo as he rides his chariot across the heavens. Redon was a French Symbolist painter known for his paintings of mythology and flowers. Although he was a contemporary of Monet and Renoir, Impressionism was not for him. Redon preferred an art of subjectivity and imagination. He was regarded by many of the Surrealists as their precursor.
