(Joshua 1:6) Let those words of Torah not depart from you, chazak, be strong and brave; as you confront the problems and dangers in this world. It is also customary for Jewish congregations to stand as the final words of a book of Torah are read in a dramatic manner. The reader signals the congregation, who then respond with "Chazak, chazak, v'nitchazeik" (Strong, strong, and let us be strengthened).
