    About This Design

    Chazak Ve'ematz Tie

    Chazak Ve'ematz Tie

An image of a lion superimposed on a fractal background with Hebrew text reading "Chazak ve'ematz" (חזק ואמץ) meaning Be strong and brave!, Joshua's admonishment the people about to embark on the conquest of the Land of Israel. (Joshua 1:6) Let those words of Torah not depart from you, chazak, be strong and brave; as you confront the problems and dangers in this world. It is also customary for Jewish congregations to stand as the final words of a book of Torah are read in a dramatic manner. The reader signals the congregation, who then respond with "Chazak, chazak, v'nitchazeik" (Strong, strong, and let us be strengthened).
