Designed for harvesting oysters in harsh winter weather, these sturdy sailing vessels once dominated the oystering grounds of the Chesapeake Bay. The wooden hull skipjack design was one of the last sailing vessels to be used for commercial fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.
