Circle Seigaiha Bicycle Playing Cards
The Seigaiha pattern was popular during the Edo period. In the Genroku era, Shikkoshi Seikai Kansa designed this pattern. Seigaiha is the name of a piece of Gagaku music, and it is named so because performers wear a garment with the Seigaiha pattern while dancing. The pattern consists of waves that are divided into four parts and repeated. It was popularized by Seikai Kansa during the Bunroku era. (Excerpt from 'Kamon Hyakuwa (Vol. 2)' by Danwa Mototsugu) This design was created based on the same book (2013/5/3).
