Maru ni Sangai-bishi (circle with triple diamond) is a family crest. The diamond shape is described in 'Monsho' (family crests), written by Masami Takeda, an upper painter, published in 1925, as a combination of two equilateral triangles. However, the book states that if a crest is made with this diamond shape, it will look too short and weak. It then explains how to create a crest diamond... The Matsukawa-bishi (pine bark diamond) and Sangai-bishi (triple diamond) are created from a geometric diamond, not a crest diamond.
