City - Cincinnati, OH - Queen city 1915 Postcard

Colorized photo from 1915 Original title: Main Street from Fountain Square Photographer: Detroit publishing Location: 198 E 5th St., Cincinnati, Ohio This is the view from main street, that was near the original Fountain Square location. On the left was the old post office, which was built in the 1880's, and replaced with the new facility, the Potter Stewart United States Courthouse in 1930. The buildings to the right of the streetcars have been replaced by the Wald Peck Federal Building in the early 1960's. The building on the on the right with the huge directory on its wall was the Blymyer building. A tall building with many tenants. And a real pain for sign painters that need to repel down the side to paint in the new one or remove the old one. The building in the middle, the tall white one, was the Gwynne Building, built in 1913. It's a Beaux Arts style, 120,000 sq ft, 13 story structure. It was one of the most architecturally distinctive building in this region at this time. It still stands today as a historic place. If you go further back, that blue sign is where the Second National Bank sits, and its still there today. I find it interesting that now and then you can find a time traveler, someone that looks a bit out of place and could pass for someone from today's time. Though this guy looks like he came from the 1940's. Can you find him?

Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
