City - NZ - The shopping district 1908 Tie

Colourized photo from 1908 Original title: The Square, looking south towards Manawatu Stables Location:130 Broadway Ave, The Square, Palmerston North, NZ This place is called "The Square", which is actually more like "A Rectangle". This was a place where you could hang out in the park, get a pedicab, and buy all sorts of wonderful things. The motif interestingly enough, looks a lot like the old west did in the US. Collinson & Cunninghame later on became a large mall roughly in this area, closed in the 1960's I believe. Many of these buildings were made in the 1880's. We are currently standing on the street known as Broadway Ave, looking towards Coleman mall.
