The Brodies are thought to be one of the original Pictish tribes of Moray. Their king was King Bridei mac Maelchu, often called by the more anglicized name of 'Brude' .King Robert Bruce awarded The Clan Chief his charter shortly before the Battle of Bannockburn. My grandmother was a Brodie :)
