Claude Monet - Water Lilies Tile

Water Lilies - Tree Reflections (Les Nymphéas - Reflets d'arbres), 1914-1926 - Claude Monet, oil on canvas. Claude Monet (Paris, 1840 - Giverny, 1926) was a French Impressionist painter. This close-up comes from one of the vast late decorative compositions developed from Monet's pond at Giverny. Dark green, blue and violet reflections of willow branches spread across the water, interrupted by relatively few pink and white lilies. The original composition consists of two adjoining painted panels and extends across a very wide field. Monet offered the monumental water-lily ensemble to the French state in 1922. Its panoramic format was designed to surround the viewer rather than present the garden through a conventional framed window.
