This restored drawing by Hugo G. Ströhl is the coat of arms of Patria del Friuli showing the heraldic Eagle of gold spreading its wings, its head turned left, an open beak and red claws on a blue background. Its origin goes back to the Patrie dal Friûl, the historical Friulian state that was independent from 1077 to 1420 under the control of the Patriarch of Aquileia. As some areas of the Patrie del Friûl were part of the Habsburg empire in 1800s, Ströhl included this coat of arms in his famous work "Österreichisch-Ungarische Wappenrolle" (1890).
