Cochlea "Slice" mousepad
For “Slice” I used a photomicrograph of the cochlea and enhanced its beauty by creating texture, warmth, depth and contrast. There are many components which make up the cochlea. In this preparation we can see some (sparse) nerve fibres of the osseous lamina striding their way towards the medial wall. Also visible is the organ of corti/cochlear duct area which is the lightest coloured band running near the outside of the turns. This view is available by dissecting and removing the otic capsule bone from around the cochlea on a horizontal plane.
