Coffee Mug - Plasmodium vivax (Malaria bug)
White mug with light blue microscopic views of one of the five bugs that cause Malaria. Fun tie for biology teachers, hospital / medical office employees or doctors or anyone who wants to see peoples faces when they share, its the bug that comes from infected mosquito females and causes Malaria! Looks good too, if you want to keep the details to yourself... From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia - Plasmodium vivax is a protozoal parasite and a human pathogen. The most frequent and widely distributed cause of recurring (Benign tertian) malaria, P. vivax is one of the five species of malaria parasites that commonly infect humans.[2] It is less virulent than Plasmodium falciparum, the deadliest of the five, but vivax malaria can lead to severe disease and death due to splenomegaly (a pathologically enlarged spleen).[3][4] P. vivax is carried by the female Anopheles mosquito, since it is only the female of the species that bite.
