A committee was formed to design a flag that would capture the essence of the Centennial State. - After much deliberation, a design was chosen that celebrated the state's natural wonders and rich history. The flag featured three horizontal stripes: two bands of sky blue, mirroring the vast, clear skies that stretch across the state, and a central band of white, representing the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains. - At the heart of the flag, a bold red "C" stood out, its golden centre a beacon of hope and prosperity. The "C" was a symbol of Colorado itself, but it also represented the state's centennial year, 1876, and the beautiful Columbine flower, Colorado's state flower. The gold within the "C" not only symbolised the state's abundant sunshine but also paid homage to the gold rush that had shaped the state's early history. - This simple yet powerful design quickly became a beloved symbol of Colorado. It represented the state's rugged beauty, its pioneering spirit, and its unwavering optimism. The Colorado flag, with its vibrant colours and meaningful symbolism, has become a cherished part of the state's identity, flying proudly over its cities, towns, and mountains.
