Colourful Cassiopeia A | Supernova | JWST Mouse Pad

Image of Cassiopeia A from MIRI on the James Webb Space Telescope of what's left of a massive star that, about 340 years ago, exploded brightly and was probably even visible directly with human eyes when it took place in the 1600's. The large colourful clouds of dust and gas are material from the star itself and are composed of mostly oxygen, neon and argon.
