A marvellous image by William Blake (1757-1827), inspired by a comet he witnessed in 1811. The print was found in the artist’s estate from where lots of my stuff comes from. Her copy was on very old rag paper and seemed to be hand-painted. Maybe a rendering of an early 19th century tourist souvenir? An art student’s copy? The real thing?? (KaCHING) Looks equally marvellous on all kinds of EVERYTHING, including tote bags. Note that the print appears on both sides of the bag, in mirror image.
