Commando Kieffer - Badge 1 BFMC Stationery

Badge drawn by Maurice Chauvet and carried by the 1st Battalion of Maritime Fusiliers Commanddos during the Second World War. It was carried on the beret of the 177 French commandos of Commander Philippe Kieffer during the Normandy landing on 6 June 1944 at Sword Beach. Today, the French Navy's commandos bear a badge that is largely inspired by this shield, with the inscription "Commando Marine".
