Counting prime numbers tie
The prime counting function π(x) counts the number of prime numbers below x. The graph shows how the function π(x) approaches x / ln x as x gets larger. Although it fluctuates wildly before 10,000, the graph settles down to a smooth curve after that. Note the abscissa is in logarithmic scale. An even better approximation of the prime counting function is given by the line below, ie the offset integral function Li(x), as shown in the graph.
