The hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa and commonly used in jewellery and wall hangings. Depicting the open right hand, an image recognised and used as a sign of protection in many times throughout history, the hamsa is believed by some, predominantly Muslims and Jews, to provide defence against the evil eye.
In this design, the hamsa just forms the base; a host of other religious, spiritual (and other) symbols are added to it, just to cover all the bases... (Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Wicca, Pagan, Celtic, Chinese, etc...)
It's not really any protection against negative energy... or is it?
