Cute Black-Capped Chickadee Tile

The black-capped chickadee is found throughout North America, ranging from the northern United States to southern Canada and all the way up to Alaska and Yukon. Chickadees are active, lively birds known for their cheery-sounding chick-a-dee call. They feed primarily on insects and seeds, and is known for its ability to cache food in order to survive long, cold winters. A chickadee's hippocampus expands by about 30 percent during the fall and retains its volume during the winter allowing the bird to remember where it has stashed food. Come spring, the memory of where those bits of food were hidden disappears and the size of thehippocampus returns to its pre-caching volume.
