Ask any dodo extinction sucks, one of the phrases layered among the dodo bird facts in this fun, yet thought provoking, dadaism style artwork by conservation artist Nola Lee Kelsey of Designing Nola.
The Dodo (Raphus cucullatus) is extinct. These large flightless birds once inhabited the small island of Mauritius in the indian ocean near Madagascar. Originally recorded by Portuguese sailors around 1507 these curios wild animals had never evolved to have a natural fear of people. By 1681 the dodo birds were completely wiped out by human settlers and the invasive domestic species they brought with them to the island.
