DEADWOOD SOUTH DAKOTA around 1876 Poster

Digitised Painting based upon a famous photo of Deadwood, South Datkota taken in 1876, a year or so after the founding of the town. Deadwood was never legitimate. It was built on Indian Treaty land and was a rowdy, lawless, and ruckus den of saloons, gambling, prostitution, opium dens, murder, and gold mining. The 1870's were its boom days and the finale was played out in an autumn 1879 fire that consumed most of the town. Noteable citizens were Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. Hickok was gunned down at a poker table in Deadwood. This image is a DIGITAL PAINTING based upon a photograph.
