Laidlaw Purves sitting on a rock in a field with a golf club and wearing golfing clothes. About the artist: John Maler Collier (1850-1934) was a leading British artist, and an author. He painted in the Preraphaelite style, and was one of the most prominent portrait painters of his generation.
