Greyhound and Dog in Landscape, Doctor Fop (c. 1839) by John Frederick Herring Sr. is a vintage Victorian Era fine art animal portrait painting. Two pet puppy dogs, Doctor Fop and a King Charles Spaniel with a landscape painted in the background. About the artist: John Frederick Herring Sr. (1795-1865) was a British painter best known for his paintings of horses and farmyards, but he also painted dogs, particularly greyhounds whose pedigrees were carefully documented as interest in coursing was revived in the 19th century.
