Dunglass Castle – Clan Colquhoun/Calhoun Stone Coaster

Dunglass Castle – Clan Colquhoun/Calhoun Stone Coaster

Protect your furniture while you enjoy your Scottish heritage with a set of coasters with a photograph of the Colquhoun/Calhoun clan's historic castle. More than one family estate in Scotland bears the name of Dunglass Castle. According to the Colquhoun Society’s website, the original lands of the family of Colquhoun were along the river Clyde at the village of Kilpatrick, where Unfridus de Kilpatrick had his holding, granted by the 3rd Earl of Lennox about 1219. Unfridus de Kilpatrick has been modernised as Humphrey of Kilpatrick. He adopted the surname Colquhoun. Its pronunciation has led to some family members spelling the name Calhoun. The castle is thought to have been built about 1380, and is known to have been the residence of Sir. John Colquhoun, Chamberlain of Scotland, from 1439-1478. The Colquhouns also had extensive history with Dumbarton Castle, where they served as governors, beginning with the above Sir John’s grandfather, Sir John Colquhoun, in 1424. In the 1930s, the British Mexican Petroleum Co. Ltd constructed an oil terminal to the east of the castle, leaving it surrounded by a massive industrial site. It is unavailable to the public. Beyond expectations, the photo was perfectly reproduced on the stone and the stone texture made it something special. A quality product. As a photographer, I am very aware of print quality, and this product clearly met my high expectations.

I have received many compliments on these coasters and they have withheld very well with extreme heat from a mug and the condensation from a glass without ruining any of my wood surfaces. The print actually turned out exactly like the photo.
