Albrecht Durer Praying Hands poster. Grey and white ink on paper 1508. One of the most famous hand sketches of all time, Study of the Hands of an Apostle is a pen and ink drawing by the Northern Renaissance master Albrecht Durer. The work features two male hands folded in prayer in imitation of Jesus Christ. Though the final altar piece was destroyed in 1729, the original sketch remains one of the most famous pieces of Christian art in existence.
