They may have been behind the Iron Curtain, but the citizens of the Deutsche Demokratische Republik - that's East Germany to you and me - were no slouches when it came to fashion. A riot of pattern and, one assumes, colour, these good little schoolgirls and boys from 1976 liked to flaunt it fabulously - at least when they weren't wearing their Young Pioneers uniforms. But that's a story for another day. Or possibly never: did the Stasi ever truly go away?
