Eastern Box Turtle Coordinating Items Tie

The Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina) prefers moist woodland habitats, but can be found almost anywhere. The front portion of their shell can fold up which closes the shell completely and protects the turtle from predators. This picture is of a male – he has red eyes while females have brown eyes. Box turtles are omnnivorous, eating things like earthworms, bugs, mushrooms, fruit, and greens. Their colours darken as they get older. Box turtles reproduce slowly and may live up to 50 years. Because they are almost impossible to keep well as pets, they should be left in the wild.
