Eden's Light - Ceramic Tree Decoration

This artwork, featuring lotus flowers rising above their beautiful circular leaves, was created with chalk pastels. As I was partway through the work, it struck me how 'Edenic' the scene was and this thought guided the way I drew the light and colors. The completed work captures the sense of a glorious light being scattered across the plants and flowers. I've often been in awe of the idea, as presented in the book of Genesis, of God Himself walking through the Garden of Eden and the scattered, prism-like light in this artwork reflects this.
