Edgar Degas The Star Dancer with Lace Trim Dress Ornament

This famous painting by Edgar Degas features a young dancer who is cast in the spotlight as a prima ballerina, while other dancers dressed in blue leotards and skirts rehearse nearby. Degas, whose full name was Hilaire Germain Edgar Degas, is believed to have painted this masterpiece in France during 1879 and 1881. Degas is a French Impressionist artist, who thought of his style as more of a realist, famous for his pastel drawings and oil paintings. Although he's famous for painting and sculpting dancers and dancing, some of this work depict everyday chores and routines.
