Plum Brandy (La Prune), painted in 1877 in oil on canvas by French painter Édouard Manet. The painting shows a solitary young woman seated at a marble-topped café table, resting her cheek on one hand while holding an unlit cigarette in the other. A small glass containing a plum in brandy gives the painting its title, while the pale pink dress, red banquette and loose brushwork turn the quiet café moment into a study of modern Parisian life.
