This design is based on the cover for the First issue of the supernatural/horror one-shot comic; it was followed by a regular series from the same publisher: Eerie (Avon, 1951 series). The cover features a raven-haired woman in a red dress, her feet and hands bound with golden ropes, while a ghoulish man in a green robe leers in the background. The man's bald head is framed by a giant yellow moon, glowing in a purple haze. Barefoot, he moves towards her, a dagger in one hand.
