This poster features an image of an elk - with snow flurries falling - near the Ocunaluftee Visitors Centre for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Cherokee, North Carolina. Once abundant in the Appalachian mountains, the elk population dwindled for many years but they were reintroduced to the park several years ago. This image is based on an original photograph, and it's been given a painterly watercolor look with a digital program.
