Two F-15E Strike Eagles assigned to the 391st and 389th Fighter Squadrons and one F-15SG assigned to the 428th Fighter Squadron sit on the flightline during sunset. The F-15's superior manoeuverability and acceleration are achieved through its high engine thrust-to-weight ratio and low-wing loading. It was the first U.S. operational aircraft whose engines' thrust exceeded the plane's loaded weight, permitting it to accelerate even while in vertical climb (Photograph by Senior Airman Debbie Lockhart).
