An old man plays his magic flute at sunset, and all the animals of the forest are drawn to its enchanting tune! Birds, fish, lizards, insects, all join in a spiral dance of wonder and delight. Meanwhile a curious black cat looks on... This is a reproduction of an original acrylic painting created as an illustration for The Old Man and the Cat by Anthony Holcroft (Penguin NZ 2012). The original painting was executed in acrylics over a collaged background of texts, maps, music & illustrations (all scanned from antique sources) on 14"x 18" canvas.
