Vintage illustration nature botany design featuring a tropical rainforest from Kunstformen der Natur (1904) by german zoologist, naturalist, professor, and marine biologist, Ernst Haeckel (1843–1919). Original from Library of Congress. A variety of exotic ferns in a jungle. (centre): Alsophila sp. (in Cyatheaceae) (left): Polypodium sp. (in Polypodiaceae) (right): Asplenium nidus = Asplenium nidus L. (bottom left, above): Angiopteris sp. (in Marattiaceae) (bottom left, below): Monogramma sp. (in Pteridaceae) (bottom right): Pteris quadriaurita = Pteris quadriaurita Retz. Ferns are vascular plants that have neither seeds nor flowers, they reproduce via spores. Kunstformen der Natur was known for bridging the gap between science and art. Great poster for office and school and for your home!
