Our Founding Fathers put the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment to the Constitution first for a reason. Democracy cannot exist without the people. Don't wait until July 4, celebrate arguably THE most valuable right we have as Americans. Freedom of expression is everything. Many came to America to practice their religion freely. Without protected speech, intelligent debate cannot occur. A free press serves as a watch dog, a fourth arm, to the government. The right to assemble, to protest, has been a time-honoured American tradition since the days of the colonists. And when the people want to petition their government and bring important issues to the general population, they must be listened to. 1st Amendment by our Founding Fathers Ratified December 15, 1791.
