Flaming June is a beautiful classic Victorian era painting by British artist, Frederic Leighton in 1895 showing a sleeping woman with a toxic oleander flower nearby. It is thought this display may symbolise the fragile link between sleep and death. The sleeping figure is an influence from sculpted Greek figures of sleeping nymphs.
