    Fornells defense tower on Menorca - Spain Magnet

    This magnet features the massive stone defense tower of Fornells standing above Menorca’s northern coast and harbor. British forces built the coastal tower in 1801–1802 to watch the entrance to Fornells Bay, deter enemy landings and protect nearby Sant Antoni Castle. Its thick truncated-cone form contained stores, quarters, a cistern and an artillery platform, illustrating Menorca’s strategic military importance in the Mediterranean.
