This is a reproduction of "Four Masted Barque" of 1914 by Henry Scott Tuke. This masterpiece is one of many produced by this important maritime artist. He was fascinated by the beauty of the sailing ships that were ubiquitous throughout his lifetime. In this year he was elected to the Royal Academy of Arts having established himself as an independent artist who could afford to work in France, Italy and the West Indies. Tuke died in Falmouth, Cornwall at the age of seventy, fifteen years after this painting was produced.
