The scythe crest. Originally, the scythe was considered almost a sacred object in the Suwa shrine. For example, in the Suwa shrines of the provinces of Satsuma, Osumi, and Hyuga, a scythe is usually enshrined as a sacred object. The Suwa Myojin is revered not only as a god of war but also as a wind god. In areas around the Suwa shrine, such as the provinces of Kai, Sagami, Suruga, Kozuke, Echigo, Etchu, Hida, Totomi, Mikawa, Owari, and Mino, there is a custom of tying a scythe to the top of a pole and standing it in the direction from which the wind is blowing to ward off strong winds. I absolutely love this product! I was a little concerned prior to buying it, but I was blown away by the quality of the item. The bowl is sturdy and arrived clean without any damage. The printing was crisp and clean and looks Better than I hoped! My dogs immediately knew these were for them and get very excited to pose with their new bowls! I love this bowl. It's nice and heavy and feels well made. I think Zazzle could make it even better however. This large bowl is actually on the small side for a large dog. I'd love to see one size larger. Also, if you want a colored background, there will be a rather thick strip of white on the top and the bottom. I wish I could have the entire face of the bowl printed in a color. The printing is crisp and clear and does a good job of showing off my Create With Photos running Portuguese Water Dog design.
