Eg, a half, and a quarter. * SIZE AND ORDER: The larger the denominator (the number at the bottom), the SMALLER is the size. The denominator is the number of pieces the whole is divided into. As it’s divided into more pieces, the smaller must be the pieces. So, ¼ is smaller than ½. * EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS: Some fractions mean exactly the same number. Eg., 2/4 is the same number as ½. Eg, 2/6 is the same number as 1/3. Eg, 4/12 is the same number as 1/3.
