Frauenkirche Memorial, Dresden, Germany Poster

"Frauenkirche Memorial, Dresden, Germany" by Catherine Sherman. A large piece of the original dome of the Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady) stands among the historic buildings in Dresden, Germany, where much of the city was destroyed and many thousands lost their lives during World War II. The stone section of the dome was placed behind the church and turned into a permanent memorial. The Frauenkirche is a Lutheran church in Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony. Destroyed during the Allied firebombing of Dresden towards the end of World War II, the church was reconstructed between 1994 and 2005. Beyond is the Dresden University of Fine Arts with its impressive domed building, which was constructed in the 19th century. The glass dome is nicknamed the "lemon squeezer" due to its shape. When it was first built, the dome was highly controversial because it was seen as rivalling the dome of the nearby Frauenkirche. It is now considered a beautiful architectural asset to the city's historic Old Town. The ornately decorated complex of buildings is called the “Lipsiusbau” after its creator, Professor of Architecture Constantin Lipsius.

I originally ordered this print in a larger size but was not pleased with the clarity of it. When I contacted Zazzle, they responded really quickly and were very helpful. I was able to reorder the print in a smaller size and it was shipped to me within a couple of weeks. The print was packaged well to ensure there was no damage during transit (Eco friendly, too!), and I am really pleased with it. I am so grateful to the customer service team for the professional way they handled my order. I had this printed on matt finish card and I was really pleased with the quality. The colours were rich and the image sharp.
