Freighter Mark W. Barker Magnet
The Great Lakes freighter Mark W. Barker is being built at BayShip in Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., and is expected to enter service in 2022, the first lake freighter to be built in a Great Lakes shipyard in about 35 years. It has a cargo hold designed to handle a variety of bulk and package or project cargoes. This updated drawing is based on the side-view drawing released to the public by Interlake, and by the plethora of shipyard photos published on social media leading up to the boat's ceremonial "floating" in the Sturgeon Bay drydock in November 2021.
