The full moon on 14th November 2016 was the brightest and biggest “supermoon” since 1948. The full moon coincided with perigee, the point in the moon’s orbit that brings it closest to Earth, making the moon appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than during apogee, when it is the furthest away from our planet. This photo was taken in Sydney, Australia. Cloud cover restricted the view of the moon for many Sydneysiders but there were a few breaks in the clouds.
