Protect your accreditation! The traditional "flat" world map was designed in the 14th century by Mercator. It was designed as a sailing-navigation tool & due to distortions that Mercator did not address, -the Mercator map does NOT come remotely close to representing the land masses accurately in size nor proportion to other land masses. This Gall–Peters Corrected World Map Projection corrects those distortions and more accurately displays the globe in its flat view. THIS is the proper 2D rendering of the Earth's surface. Isn't it about time! This map needs to replace ALL Mercator projection maps still on display. If you teach geography -then you know the importance of accurate maps. Any if YOU don't have an accurate world map - what will those who know the difference think? Well! And it's not only geography at issue, but politics and how people frame the strategic value of land-masses by the perception of their areas.
